Women of Distinction is a nationwide Girl Scouts of the USA program that recognizes the achievements of women. As Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York educates girls to be future community leaders, we want to recognize the community leaders of today. Since 1985, GSNENY has been hosting Women of Distinction events across the council. Honorees are awarded for their strength of character, dedicated community service, emphasis on life-long learning, along with their dedication to fostering self-confidence and leadership skills in others. These events are one of many ways we keep Girl Scouting vibrant in our communities. Many women who are leaders in their fields credit Girl Scouting with helping them build the set of skills that paved their road to success.

Tickets for our September 22 event are still available for virtual attendance (using the Zoom platform).

Women of Distinction also features an online auction. You can bid now through September 24 on some amazing items at

As an individual, imagine the impact your support can have on the lives of local Girls! As a member of the Pearl Society, you show your support of Girl Scout programs that are more vital than ever. During this time of social distancing, GSNENY’s programs continue to provide Girls a sense of normalcy, as they connect with their Girl Scout sisters and earn badges from home or at camp. Both virtual and outdoor in-person programs provide Girls a safe way to continue learning and growing through Girl Scouting.

The Pearl Society is named in honor of a selfless act by Juliette Gordon Low. In 1915, three years after founding the Girl Scout Movement, she sold her strand of matching natural pearls to support Girl Scouts for another year. If her actions inspire you to strengthen your commitment to Girl Scouting, contact us to join the Pearl Society today!
