Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York is committed to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. As such, our Task Force is working on building resources for Girls, Leaders, Volunteers, and Supporters to further our work. Check back for updates. We are pleased to offer financial assistance to Girls for their membership and to attend programs and camps!
GSNENY celebrates that girls' and women's bodies come in all shapes and sizes. Uniforms are provided by GSUSA. Updates include greater size inclusivity and the launch of an upcycling program to transform unused products into contemporary accessories.
Whenever we see injustice, we all have a responsibility to confront it. Every day, no matter our background or our age, every single one of us has a role to play in taking on an unfair system while working to build a new one that truly works for all. Guiding our girls in learning to recognize and challenge structures and practices that fuel inequality and cause harm helps them play an active role in creating the positive change our society needs.

It’s a big world, and what better way to experience it than on a global scale? As a Girl Scout, she’ll find her place in the world and make a real difference, whether she travels the globe or decides to participate in local activities with worldwide impact.

Upcoming Destination opportunity!
We are excited to share an amazing opportunity for older Girl Scouts: Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta is hosting a Journey for Justice Destination in July. As they explore sites in Georgia and Alabama, girls will learn about the individuals who led the Civil Rights Movement in the U.S. South, and then continue their personal journey to justice by meeting leaders at the forefront of this work today. This immersive experience is perfect for problem-solvers and change-makers who use their voice to fight for what is right.
This Destination has received generous funding to reduce the $1,300 program fee down to $100 per girl! Girls will also need to arrange airfare to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). Financial assistance is available for girls in financial need through our Girl Grant Fund.

Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York (GSNENY) Resolution on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
WHEREAS diversity includes differences in race, color, ethnicity, nationality, cultural background, gender, gender expression, gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, ableness, familial status, marital status, military status, predisposing genetic characteristics, pregnancy-related condition, status as a victim of domestic violence, physical and/or mental characteristics and capabilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, lifestyles, experiences, interests, and all these vast diversities exist among the GSNENY community;
WHEREAS diversity must be celebrated in the spirit of inclusion;
WHEREAS Girl Scouts has, at the heart of its mission, a commitment to building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place;
WHEREAS Girl Scouts promise to live by the Girl Scout Law, making the world a better place and being a sister to every Girl Scout;
WHEREAS equity entails the fair treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all, and allowing individuals to obtain that which is needed to reach their full potential, including different needs for different individuals;
WHEREAS inclusion entails authentically bringing traditionally excluded individuals and/or groups into processes, activities, and decision/policy making in a way that shares power and ensures equal access to opportunities and resources;
WHEREAS GSNENY's Task Force on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion has examined the current climate of GSNENY;
WHEREAS diversity, equity, and inclusion must be represented and resources and materials must equitably provide conditions and practices that embrace the diversity of experiences and perspectives;
WHEREAS GSNENY commits to developing recommendations to address areas for continuous improvement and implementation with how we ensure that GSNENY is an organization that is proactive, welcoming and inclusive;
WHEREAS GSNENY is committed to creating relevant and impactful experiences and services that reflect the lived experiences of participants;
WHEREAS GSNENY recognizes the value of diversity, equity, and inclusion as essential to enriching to the mission of Girl Scouts;
Be it therefore RESOLVED, that
GSNENY is committed to fostering attitudes, behaviors, practices, and knowledge that promote and enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion; and
GSNENY’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion will be reflected in GSNENY at all levels -- in the organization's culture; in the behavior and actions of individual staff; in the actions and perspectives of the collective Board and individual Board members; and in the ways in which resources and services are developed, delivered, and marketed to reach and serve all participants.
