Ignite Her Flame

Thank you to all who joined us for Ignite Her Flame 2026 in support of camp and outdoor programming. Your generosity makes a real difference — opening doors for more Girl Scouts to grow, explore, and thrive in the great outdoors. We're also deeply grateful to our distinguished guest, Melanie Sawyer, for making this event one to remember.

About Hidden Lake Camp toggle arrow

Hidden Lake Camp is nestled on 400 acres in the southern portion of the Adirondack Park, approximately three miles from Lake George Village. The camp includes a small private lake, streams, low mountains, and woodlands. Each year, hundreds of Girl Scouts and volunteers make lifelong memories at HLC while camping out, learning and developing outdoor skills, and growing their appreciation of nature.

About the Importance of Outdoor Programming toggle arrow

Discovering the wonders of the outdoors is a hallmark of the Girl Scout Experience. Spending time in nature has proven benefits for girls including improved concentration and creative reasoning, as well as fulfilling the critical need for digital detox in our modern world.

Girl Scouts helps girls move out of their comfort zones by providing access to the outdoors and fun experiences in nature. Eight out of 10 girls say Girl Scouting allows them to engage in outdoor activities they have never done before and wouldn’t have done otherwise.

Helping Girl Scouts prosper in the outdoors includes fostering:

Outdoor Competence: “I learned about the sky and how to read star maps.” –Senior

Outdoor Interest: “Getting away from everyday life and enjoying nature is a great stress reliever.” – Senior

Outdoor Confidence: “Nature can be scary, but it’s also really fun.” - Brownie

Environmental Stewardship: “We can keep plants and animals safe by keeping the environment clean.” - Brownie
